The statue of the Dead Jesus can be dated back to the beginning of the 20th century (perhaps 1931) and until the early 1980s it was visible on the altar dedicated to Him (SKU 2400050). The same statue was also used in the rite of the "Three Hours of Agony" and in the Good Friday procession. After the Martorano painting was removed in the 1980s, the wooden Cross (SKU 2300104) with the Dead Jesus was placed on a pedestal on the high altar. Later, first the cross was replaced and then, with the return of the painting, they were placed to the left of the high altar before the balustrade. The statue has undergone considerable retouching, not least the replacement of the material that joined the arms to the shoulders in a jointed way so that the statue could be placed in a supine position or hung from the Cross with a fixed support. The photos show the same statue in various years and positions (2015, 1993 and 1983).
