The original altar is perhaps older than 1700 as during the restoration work carried out around 2019, a concrete altar was discovered behind the 1911 marble antependium (as reported by an inscription at the base "AD Girolamo Aschettino 1911") that must have once been finely decorated as evidenced by the blue and yellow colors that could still be seen in some places. The 1911 antependium and the related inscription (as well as perhaps the other lateral marbles) were removed to make the original altar visible. Unfortunately, there is no news of the two finds from 1911 and due to poor maintenance of the ancient altar, the original colors have now completely disappeared. To make things even more horrible from the point of view of cultural heritage, its step (as well as those of all the other lateral altars of the Church of the Body of Christ) was cut and a baptistery was placed in front of the altar. The altar is catalogued by the Cultural Heritage at # 1500047420. At the time of cataloguing, the altar behind it went unnoticed.
